Hiro Uchida |
Mr. Uchida has been a management consultant since April 2005. Prior to 2005, his career was with the Sony Corporation in both Japan and the US. From 1997 through March 2005, he was the General Manager of Sony’s Strategic Venture Investment Group (Corporate Venture Capital), part of Sony’s Group Headquarters, based in Tokyo, Japan. He started this group and strategically collaborated with multiple innovative companies, and invested in start-ups in the USA, UK, Israel, and Japan. He was involved in helping those companies generate revenue and growth. From 1988 through 1996, he was appointed to multiple strategic positions with Sony based in the US. Between 1993 and 1996, he was VP, Business Development, and created and led an internal venture unit on wireless messaging. He worked closely with RIM, RAM Mobile Data, and Ericsson. From 1989 through 1995, he was VP, Telecommunications Research Lab. He was instrumental in bringing Sony into the wireless communications business by working closely with Qualcomm. He created the basis of the joint venture with Qualcomm. From 1998 through 1993, he was operating the companywide strategic partnerships with the US advanced technology companies under the initiative of Sony CEO Akio Morita, and advanced from Director to VP of Advanced Technology Group.
