Dr. Williams is a product development professional with more than a decade of experience. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Chemical Engineering from McGill University in Montreal and his PhD in Forestry from the University of Toronto. He worked in the plastics and then pulp and paper industries for several years before getting involved in water treatment by joining Trojan Technologies in 1999.
At Trojan Dr. Williams managed many projects, ranging in size from troubleshooting a faulty adhesive through to a multi-million dollar international UV-oxidation installation. He worked extensively in the lab and in the field at pilot sites. In addition to significant successes he also had some educational failures.
After joining Monteco as a Senior Scientist in 2006 Dr. Williams has followed several projects from concept through to commercialization. In the last two years the Monteco family of companies has launched 5 new products that he was involved in developing. All of them are starting to get traction in the marketplace. At the same time he participated in examining new technologies for possible inclusion in the Monteco portfolio. His experience brings advanced expertise in research, new technology assessment, new product development, project planning and data analysis.
Dr. Williams has worked with numerous academic institutions and government funding agencies on research projects. Monteco currently has four such collaborations active. He has co-authored three US patents (one still pending) and four conference papers.
In 2009 Dr. Williams became the Director of Research and Development at Monteco. In late 2010 Good Harbour Laboratories was created as a new venture for Monteco, and Dr. Williams added Business Unit Manager to his list of duties. GHL is a spin off of the R&D group that is now offering product development services to third parties. GHL focuses on building and testing water treatment technologies. In the meantime, Monteco remains active in the technology commercialization process.
