Larry Huston, Vice President of Innovation, at Procter and Gamble leads P&G’s “Connect + Develop” strategy to source 50% of the company’s new product and service innovations from outside P&G.

This is a new business model approach of innovation, and it has been commented on quite extensively by the business press. It is one of the strategies that have led to turbocharging P&G’s innovation output.

In 2004, P&G was just ranked by Fortune Magazine as the number-one global innovator and by Forbes Magazine as the number-one brand Company. Over the last three years, innovation productivity has increased by 40% at P&G.

Larry has extensive experience with leading innovation in a complex global multi-national company:

  • Has worked with three different CEOs at P&G, and created (and six years served) on the CEO’s Innovation Leadership Team.
  • Served as the innovation leader for P&G’s Global Fabric and Homecare business, a $14 billion dollar business.
  • Created and led P&G’s new Brand Bootcamp operation.
  • Led the effort to implement a transnational innovation model at P&G which has led to a dramatic reduction in global launch speeds around the world.
  • And most recently, while leading P&G’s Connect + Develop strategy. Larry has started up several companies, is building P&G’s e-R&D infrastructure, and has responsibility for Connect + Develop efforts in the US, Europe, India, China, and Japan.

Larry has twice received the University of Pennsylvania’s, Wharton School, Industry Leader Award. Larry and his wife Cynde are both active in urban high school education reform.
