Dr. Jay Paap

Jay Paap is President of Paap Associates, a management consulting firm assisting major corporations in their business and technology development efforts. He teaches in the executive education programs at Caltech and MIT, is a SCIP Fellow and a PDMA Certified New Product Development Professional.

Dr. Paap has been active in the management of technology for 40 years, and has consulted gloablly with industrial and governmental organizations for over 30 years in the areas of the management of innovation, business and product development, corporate venturing, strategic alliances, technology management, and competitive intelligence.

He is a frequent speaker on these topics, appearing in executive seminars throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. He has participated in programs sponsored by MIT, Cal Tech, Cal Berkeley, Nihon University, Business Week, The Management Roundtable, the IRI, PDMA, SCIP, the AMA, and Nomura Research Institute, as well as internal seminars for over 150 government, professional, and industrial organizations.

Dr. Paap received his Ph.D. from MIT’s Sloan School of Management and has held faculty positions at Sloan and Indiana University. He served on the editorial advisory boards of Technology Management and Competitive Intelligence Review where he guest-edited a special edition on competitive technical intelligence. His article, “Anticipating Disruptive Innovation,” won the IRI’s 2005 Maurice Holland award for the best article published in Research Technology Management in 2004.
