Over 100 top decision-makers from some of the world´s largest corporations gathered in Amsterdam during the last week of September for the third yet2.com international executive conference on the best ways to maximize return on R&D investments. Organized by yet2.com and co-sponsored by Royal Philips Electronics and Shell Global Solutions, the conference brought together representatives of global technology leaders to foster sharing of knowledge and experience related to technology transfer. Entitled Managing Technology in the E-Commerce World, the conference offered the unprecedented opportunity for the world´s technology-rich companies to learn from one another about ways to maximize return on R&D investments through technology transfer and the use of such tools as yet2.com.

Conference Fosters Peer-to-Peer Learning

Keynote speakers and executive panelists explained in Amsterdam how their companies use interactive e-markets to capitalized on their huge investments in research, development, and intellectual assets. Panelists represented 3M, Denso, NTT-ATT, Philips, Procter & Gamble, Shell, and others.

The Place to Make Connections Is the Marketplace

Knowledge management is about making connections, not collections, emphasized Tom Stewart in his animated speech to the Amsterdam audience. Stewart is author of the book Intellectual Capital and a member of the Board of Editors of Fortune magazine.

Passing Through the "Terror and Chaos" Phase of R&D Management Change

A number of the attendees at Amsterdam are attempting to lead their organizations through major change. "I am in charge of getting Intellectual Property Licensing going for my company," was the comment of several attendees for companies who have not yet begun licensing their technologies.

Licensing = Marketing

Koos Rasser, former Chief Patent Counsel at P&G, equated licensing and marketing in his speech Streamlining R&D´s Role in the Licensing Process. Rasser emphasized how the licensing process needs to maximize the value of technology to third parties -- in order to make that technology most attractive to them.

Speakers Share How Their Firms Use yet2.com

The speakers at Amsterdam represented companies at various stages of executing technology licensing strategies. Whether just getting going or further along the road, the speakers showed that yet2.com fits into every phase of licensing strategy.

Ben Dupont´s Closing Remarks

yet2.com´s President, Ben Dupont, summarized the shifts in licensing practices revealed during the Executive Briefing.
