| A compact pressure sensor (about half the size of a cigarette package) that produces highly accurate pressure measurements is provided. The sensor converts a pressure condition into an electrical output of a specified nature. It can be used to measure pressure in a variety of media, including air, water, oil, etc. Only a glass sense element and an interior wall of the carrier housing of the device come into contact with the sensed medium, making the device relatively immune from contamination and other environmentally induced performance degradation. The device is rugged and will produce accurate pressure measurements even in environments or applications that subject the device to high acclerations and vibrations, such as flight. The device may be configured to measure absolute pressure or differential pressure.
