Inductive Level Sensor For Conductive Liquids
This technology overcomes difficulties in measuring liquid levels in harsh enironments such as the growth of gallium arsenide or indium phosphate crystals which involve exposure to high temperatures and arsenic deposition that would otherwise cause shorting out of the coil. This technology employs an oscillating current flowing in a coil causes the field of one winding to add to the field of the next winding. The fields pulsate, in turn generating a pulsating electromagnetic field surrounding the coil. Placing the coil a nominal distance from a conductive or metal target induces a current flow on the surface and within the target. The induced current produces a secondary magnetic field that opposes and reduces the intensity of the original field, which can be analyzed to indicate the level of the fluid.
