Peelable/Separable Coextruded Films
A multilayer film having peelable interfaces. The interfaces after separation expose a clean (sterile) non-tacky surface. These peelable layers are created by multilayer polymer coextrusion. The structures can be made on conventional film processing equipment. The peelable interfaces can serve as renewable surfaces, removable coupons, tags, and cards, carrier webs, opening mechanisms and labels. The key technological advantages are a one step process which creates a multilayer peelable film. The film interfaces when peeled expose a non tacky surface that has not been exposed to the atmosphere. The multilayer coextrusion can be designed for one or two side printing, post converting operation compatibility (example: metalizing, die cutting, adhesive coating) or for functionality (sealability or barrier). The layers can be pigmented or modified with other additives.
