| This simple yet effective technology allows tailored design of the structure of a porous, fibrous material. By appropriately deploying one or more baffles in an air forming process, velocity and pressure gradients result which cause a sorting effect for different-sized particles. This is useful in many applications where a graded or banded structure is sought, for example, where a greater concentration of fluid-absorbing particles is desired in one region of the material.
