| An improved design facilitates the mapping of video data onto display panels which have insufficient numbers of dots to permit standard 1:1 mapping. By utilizing a multi-colored liquid crystal display (LCD) structure driven by a video source, this technology permits 480 active lines of signal to be mapped directly onto 720 rows and columns of pixel elements. Normal scanning and high resolution are retained, auxiliary memory is not required, and the display panel can be easily manufactured using conventional techniques.
