| Conventional pH sensors utilize metal counter electrodes to reduce erroneous pH readings caused from electrical noise. These metal counter electrodes may provide a location for liquid intrusion--resulting in sensor malfunction. A novel enclosure design integrates the counter electrode into a conductive polymer plug, which may be readily sealed, hermetically, into the housing. Leakage into the sensor is thereby prevented, and improved performance and reliability result.
