| This novel, low cost electrostatically actuated mesopump offers a very high pumping rate. Breakthrough technology produces pumping speeds and pressures comparable to pumps 10X larger. Power consumption remains below 5 milliwatts/channel (3 cells in series). The pump consists of an array of cells including a shaped chamber, diaphragm, and interconnecting conduits. The diaphragm conforms to the shape of the chamber when electrostatic energy is applied. Interconnecting conduits control the flow of fluid. Materials and methods necessary to produce this mesopump are commercially available. Due to its very low power consumption and small size, a host of uses are possible including miniature fuel cells, electrostatic cooling devices, and gas sampling instrumentation for bio-chem detection.novel mesopump series cells |
