| Honeywell has discovered valuable compounds useful as crosslinking agents for fluorinated polyarylene ethers (FPAEs). Under alkaline conditions, the phenoxy group in 1-[(hydroxyphenoxy)phenylene]triazenes reacts with an aromatic fluorine in FPAE. As a result, the unique agent enhances the thermal and solvent resistance properties of the FPAE compound. The glass transition temperature (Tg) of the crosslinked polymer films is also increased. In addition to increasing thermal and chemical resistance properties, this novel crosslinking agent reduces stress-crazing and water absorption in the polymer--thereby maintaining a low dielectric constant even in the presence of humidity. When thermally crosslinked, the polymers provide improved dielectric, mechanical, and chemical resistance properties useful in multilayered IC chips, multichip modules, and other microelectronic devices.Honeywells unique crosslinkable compound structure |
