| A small sized high efficiency solid-state laser apparatus can be made in which optical alignment becomes unnecessary, thus simplifying the assembly process. The laser property (in particular, the longitudinal mode) can be improved, thereby increasing the conversion efficiency to the secondary harmonic wave. Improving the laser lengthwise mode property improves both the laser quality and the conversion efficiency and further enhances the functional effects. If the shape of the exciting light is made to approximate that of the resonator mode, the laser quality (in particular, the lateral mode) property is improved resulting in increased efficiency in the conversion to the secondary harmonic wave. Additionally, the overall efficiency can be raised. When the laser resonator becomes of semi resonance focus type and the laser quality (in particular, the lateral mode) property is improved, the efficiency of the conversion to the secondary harmonic wave is also improved. Light loss can be eliminated by not placing an absorbing material, such as the adhesive agent, in the portion where the light passes through. This prevents deterioration of the exciting efficiency, laser efficiency, and the efficiency of the conversion to the secondary harmonic wave.
