Method to Purify and Reinhibit Recycled Antifreeze/Coolant
Honeywell's novel process provides for both purification and reinhibition of recycled antifreeze/coolant (A/C) used in the cooling systems of internal combustion engines. Conventional "used" A/C lacks adequate corrosion inhibiting chemicals. This technology correlates the concentration of silicate, reserve alkalinity, and corrosion inhibitors in the used A/C to the concentration of the chemical components of the "reinhibitor package." Based on the particular recycling process used for the A/C, the concentrations of components in the reinhibitor package reflect the "chemical footprint" of the recycled A/C.
