Process for Separating Water from Chemical Mixtures
Honeywell has developed a unique, continuous process for separating water from refrigerants, solvents, and other chemicals. Unlike traditional dryers which use molecular sieves, this method utilizes a superabsorbent, water-soluble polymer (such as sodium polyacrylate) to absorb water upon contact. The polymer can be in the form of a powder, fine particle, fiber, or custom shape (as shown). The polymer may be dried and reused as required without mechanical degradation. This convenient, and cost-effective system can function as both a dryer and a filter, has greater dryer capacity than competing products, and does not adsorb HFC-32 like some molecular sieves.continuous intermittent batch drying chemical mixtures
