| To represent a continuous tone image (such as a photograph) with a digital device such as a digital printing press, the halftones of the image (shadows and highlights) must be converted to a set of dots that can be printed. The dots must be placed in such a way that the printed image recreates the look of the halftones. This can be achieved by rasterizing the image with frequency modulation screening. The modulation of the dots can be by size, by frequency or by exposure time. This software improves the results of the digital printer, film setter or electrophotographic copier. |
