| This technology allows to obtain continuous tone, photographic images with electrostatic toner. A continuous range of up to 256 shades is obtained by the use of multiple toners with the same chromaticity, but different densities. Microdots are composed of different amounts of different toners, resulting in a larger range of shades. The shades can be grey values for black and white pictures, but also colour shades for coloured images.
