Easy, High Precision Eccentric Measuring Method for Aspheric Optical Devices
This is a contact-less measuring technique, simple in composition yet featuring second order angular measurement precision. Its purpose is to measure eccentricity of aspheric optical devices and dies for manufacturing lenses. Aspheric optical devices include not only single lenses such as spherical lens, single side aspherical lens and double-side aspherical lens, but also the complex lenses used in optical systems for cameras, projectors and optical disk pickups. Recently, adoption of the aspherical lens has become indispensable in miniaturizing optical systems and upgrading quality. An important element fatal to aspherical lens performance is inclination of the aspheric surface against a standard, i.e., eccentricity. The technology reported here makes it easy to precisely measure such eccentricity of the aspheric surface. Using an optical system with auto-collimation as a fundamental principle, it measures inclination of the optical axis of the lens and aspheric central axis. The measurement is non-contact and in second order angle precision.
