| A method of producing hydrofluorocarbons and/or hydrochlorofluorocarbons by using halogenated alkanes as a principal reactant. Generally, the method comprises the step of: (a) reacting a starting halogenated alkane corresponding to the formula (I): H.sub.3 C--CX.sub.3 (I) wherein X is independently fluorine or chlorine, with a hydrohalocarbon adduct in the presence of a catalyst to form a hydrofluorocarbon and/or hydrochlorofluorocarbon. |
