| This technology creates a strongly bonded continuous lubricant layer on the surface of thermoplastic resin pellets for injection molding. Aluminum distearate type lubricants are commonly used to ensure reliable pellet feed in the screw of injection molding machines. However, loss of the powdery lubricant during pellet handling can cause equipment problems (plugging, etc.) and safety issues (slipping hazards). This coating process largely eliminates these problems because the lubricant is strongly attached to the pellet surface. After mixing the pellets and lubricant by conventional means, the pellets are kept in motion so that they impact with each other sufficiently to bond the lubricant to the pellet surface. This is conveniently achieved using commercial dense phase conveying equipment. |
