| This technology comprises a method for incorporating heat stabilizer at the desired concentration by diluting masterbatch pellets using unmodified polyamide pellets at the appropriate let-down ratio. Heat stabilizer is required to maintain mechanical properties over time, but an undesirable consequence of the addition of copper based heat stabilizers to polyamides is yellowing of the polymer. It is found that this is minimized using a high let-down ratio (with a correspondingly higher heat stabilizer content in the masterbatch pellets) to achieve the desired final heat stabilizer content. The process can be readily implemented in commercial processing equipment. |
