| This patented method and related stand alone software for predicting springback in hydroformed sheetmetal parts, referred to as Springback Calculator™, has resulted in a reduction in tool development time, savings in tooling costs, reduction in manufacturing lead time, reduction in scrap rate, and savings in product cost. Springback Calculator™ uses an analytical approach (validated with empirical data) to predict springback based on part geometry, material, and hydroform process inputs. This approach has proven to be much faster and more accurate than both traditional table-based calculations, and than time / resource intensive finite element based methods. The method was awarded US Patent 7,130,714 - Method of Predicting Springback in Hydroforming on October 31, 2006. |
