| This technology provides improved cavity design, nozzle design, and motive fluid nozzle design to dramatically increase the efficiency of particle size reduction in fluid mills. Energy savings greater than 20% are realized for hard particles--- even higher savings for more friable particles. The design narrows the particle size distribution, with much lower amounts of larger particles escaping the chamber. Interlocking liner segments reduce liner abrasion creating 200-300% longer liner life. Fluid energy mills are used to reduce the particle size of a variety of materials such as pigments, agricultural chemicals, carbon black, ceramics, minerals and metals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, precious metals, propellants, resins, toner and titanium dioxide.
