TechPak Categories Titanium Dioxide Particle Coatings for Enhanced Characteristics Much of the pigment particles produced in large-scale titanium dioxide (TiO2) facilities are further processed with different surface coatings and processes to create characteristics for specific end-uses. This technology encompasses coatings and their associated application processes for addressing most end-uses---(1) Our monomeric (versus typical colloidal approach) for silica coating provides high gloss and durability for paints and plastics end-uses by creating a very uniform coating thickness both across all particles and around each particle. This ability to produce a thin uniform coating creates higher gloss and superior resistance to photoexcitation degradation since each particle is fully protected by its essentially complete covering by the coating. (2) Our two-layer, porous and dense, alumina coating provides very high durability pigments (3) Our cationic surfactant coating dramatically improves retention to paper fibers, permitting optimizing the sizing characteristic in paper applications.
