| This technology consists of a plastic material made of several components and of its production process. The material typically includes a variable organic or anorganic filler that conveys many new and unconventional characteristics to this plastic. For example, if the filler is straw, sawdust, grass, etc., the material may inherit interesting and decorative surface textures and it becomes biodegradable. In this case, the material typically decomposes into organic compost, CO2, and water. Non-organic filler materials, such as limestone to name only one, can provide a large range of mechanical and chemical characteristics, and of new surface textures that are unusual for plastics. The components of the material are nontoxic and food safe. It can be dyed, extruded, molded into rigid or semi-rigid products, co-injected, cut, drilled, glued, and otherwise processed in similar ways that conventional plastics can. Demonstration products have been molded in small series to illustrate the versatility of the material, and its ability to be formed using injection molding, press molding, and co-injection in complex shapes. The technology is ready to be applied in large scale production. The intellectual property is protected by trade secrets and by filed patent applications. |
