| Today’s vehicles have numerous plastic parts such as bumpers, spoilers, exterior mirror coatings, and trim made from polypropylene, polystyrene, polycarbonate, ABS and other plastics. Coatings adhesion has been a chronic problem, requiring the use of different primers for each plastic. This technology provides an efficient, reliable means of formulating the various primers. It is a 5-module system that can dispense ingredients from the appropriate modules into a mixing chamber for preparing a "just in time" specific primer. This configuration is especially useful for repair shops where changes in primers are frequent. Each module can contain a single or multiple ingredients ---for example, the base module contains binders, extenders and pigment. It is always used with at least one other module. The other modules are an adhesion promoting ingredients module, an elasticising component module, a water-dilutable or solvent-based binder module, and a crosslinking agent module.detail considerations module |
