| This technology overcomes the chronic problem of deteriorating k factor in closed cell insulation that is caused by air intrusion into the cells diluting insulating value of low-conductivity blowing agents. K factor deterioration rates are reduced more than 70% by incorporating a gas diffusion barrier resin in the forming polymer. Initial k factor values of insulation blown using modified polymers containing the barrier resin are typically 20% lower than base polymer.
