| The oxygen generator has been developed to produce large quantities of 100% pure oxygen at low cost. The technology consists of an inexpensive oxygen-conducting ceramic material that has been extruded in a honeycomb shape with square openings. The walls are electroded and the honeycomb is manifolded so that alternate rows are open and sealed. The application of a current will drive oxygen ions from open air cathode channels through the honeycomb walls into sealed anode channels. The system operates at or below 650 C, and the honeycomb shape provides a strong structure with large surface area and thin walls to drive down the power requirements.
