Anodized washcoat method adheres catalysts to non-ceramic surfaces
The anodized washcoat method allows catalysts for catalytic converters to be applied to and adhere to non-ceramic surfaces, including complex metallic shapes such as heat exchangers, ducting fins, and channels. The technique can eliminate the need for a separate catalytic converter that might otherwise contain packed beads or a ceramic monolith, thus saving space, weight, and maintenance in applications where they are critical such as automotive, marine, architecture, and similar home and commercial structure applications. It permits using a catalytic converter in areas of high heat and vibration. In addition to eliminating ozone, the coating method can eliminate mercaptans, sulfides, and amines that cause odor, thus opening up new applications in architecture, temporary structures, marine vehicles, and in sealed structures that cannot be aired out such as space stations or undersea mining and drilling operations.of washcoating substrate the steps non-aqueous slurry organosiloxane resin monomeric polymeric least refractory metal oxide layer quickly drying curing calcining dried cured impregnating catalyst
