| The technology represents content as projections of high-dimensional polygonal lines on smaller subspaces. The content can be reconstructed regardless to the order of the projections. Moreover, an approximation of the content can be reconstructed with a partial subset of projections. The technology is most useful for representing video/audio files or streams, and it allows a downloader or reader of the content to compress it before having the entire content at hand. For example, using this technology a person downloading a movie file can stop the download at any time and view the entire movie, where the quality of the movie is determined by the amount of data he has downloaded. Another example, a person viewing a video stream can adjust the quality of the stream according to the bandwidth constraints he has, reducing its quality to consume less bandwidth, or alternatively letting it consume more bandwidth to improve the quality of the stream. This technology makes use of advanced mathematics. Data (such as an image) is transformed into high dimensional polygonal lines, and represented as projections onto random subspaces. Next the technology uses random-projections theory to reconstruct an approximation of the polygonal lines, when only part of the data is available. Then the technology converts back the polygonal lines into an image. Unlike other representations where the order of the bytes is crucial to the correct interpretation of the image, using this technology the order of the projections is insignificant. This makes downloading a file from several sources easier to control. Other technologies need to partition the data into chunks and assign each source a different chunk, while the present technology accumulates projections from sources until enough projections are available. When downloading a file from several sources this solves the fragmentation problem generated from sources of different speed.represents content projections high-dimensional polygonal lines smaller subspaces reconstructed regardless order Moreover approximation partial subset |
