Organic Hollow Nanotubes Excel in Delivery Applications for Medicine, Food, Health, Environment, and Agriculture
A new process yields easily synthesized organic nanotubes in large quantities at a low cost. Our “Organic Nanotube AIST” (ONT-AIST) contains amphiphillic molecules with both hydrophilic (water-soluble) and hydrophobic (oil-soluble) properties, spontaneously aggregated in an organic solvent. The result is a fiber-like nanotube with a hollow core for the delivery of molecules exceeding 10 nm, a capacity far exceeding the delivery by molecules such as cyclodextrin. An added benefit of ONT-AIST is low toxicity. While carbon nanotubes are potentially toxic to living organisms, toxicity tests show extremely low oral toxicity for the organic nanotubes, half that of either acetic acid or sodium chloride (table salt). Bacteria completely degrade the nanotubes in 28 days, reducing impact on people, plants, and animals. This new high-yield, low-cost structure is suited to many applications in the fields of medicine, food, agriculture, health, and the environment.recent years number efforts toward development nanotubes supramolecular structures variety methodologies end results Early production multiple time-consuming stages inconsistent self-assembling incompletely portions resultant failing rise level efficacy
