| Our breakthrough process produces a highly stable gelling agent that also functions as a dispersant for water or ionic liquids. Easily synthesized in a very few steps, its production foregoes any purification technique (such as chromatography), with resulting large economics of time and cost. A minute quantity transforms water or an ionic liquid into an acid-stable gel without the use of other auxiliary solvents. During production, the gelator may be "tuned" to a desired solubility. Unlike other gelling agents, the gelling effect of our product can be quickly reversed and does not require high temperatures to do so, increasing the range of potential applications. It easily disperses carbon nanotubes in water while forming a gel at the same time. Under mechanical stress, the resultant gel recovers its rheological properties quickly, making it ideal for electrochemical devices such as batteries. |
