| Memory disturbances are the common feature of many neural diseases including stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson disease, viral and drug induced lesions of the central neural system (CNS). However, progressive memory impairments among aged people are most frequently caused by Alzheimer’s disease (AD). This disease is spread between aged people the same as cardio and cerebral infarcts. About 26 million people in the world have Alzheimer's disease: 7.2 million in Europe, 12.6 million in Asia, 3.1 million in North America, and 1.4 million in Russia. Presently there are only a limited number of AD treatment methods. According to the researches of AD study Center NCPZ RAMN, the next drugs to have long-term clinical effect will be inhibitors ADR (amiridinum, donepezil, rivastigmine) and acatinol memantine. All existing cognitive enhancers have a significant disadvantage connected with their efficiency only at the time of new memory acquisition, but they can not improve previously formed weakened memory. The Institute of Physiologically Active Compounds RAS recent studies revealed an opportunity to synthesize a new substance (MSL-2 modulator). Its injection leads to both new information digestion and old memory retrieval. Study results are protected under RF patent № 2333211 from 10.09.2008. There are also applications for patents in some foreign countries. |
