| The key drivers in agriculture for the next few decades will be water efficiency, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. Irrigation technology for large scale crop production is also becoming very relevant. This award winning eco-friendly new technology eliminates a large number of problems experienced by the irrigation industry, and could accomplish 40% water savings and substantial energy savings. It is also suitable as the irrigation method for biological farming. This new well patented irrigation system consists of a plastic nipple within which a flexible silicone tube is mounted. When water passes through the tube it snakes to and fro while rotating through 360°, forming uniform droplets similar to rain drops without any mist formation. It further includes an integral flow controller that regulates the flow of water regardless of variances in pressure. Any size or shape of field can be irrigated irrespective of its slope, and leaves no dry corner sections typically found with pivot irrigation systems. The large drop size drastically reduces the drops from being blown away by the wind, as is typically experienced with impact irrigation systems. Since the system simulates rain, the whole area around the plant is wetted, resulting in better root formation and distribution when compared with drip irrigation. The patents cover 34 countries and protect twenty years of product development and know-how. The system is already in operation in 19 countries irrigating 15,000 hectares. Existing irrigation companies with a global presence are especially invited to capitalize on acquiring this irrigation technology. |
