Anti-corrosion coating goes on dry, out-performs others, and reduces costs 25%
GreenKote is a sacrificial zinc-based anti-corrosion coating and wear treatment for ferrous metal parts that goes on dry and fuses into the metal surface under heat, performing a thermo-chemical surface modification to the metal. It uses 90% less powder than diffusion coatings, can withstand salt spray testing for 1000 hours, offers an environmentally "green" process, and is up to 25% less expensive than other coatings. Three products, PM1, PM10, and PM21, offer increasing levels of hardness. GreenKote provides better uniform coverage than other powder coats. Already in use in some European automotive parts and construction fasteners, the process is a liquid-free bulk process that poses no environmental issues. It is recommended by the UK Steel Construction Institute for tension-control bolts, and has been approved by the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik (DIBt) and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). No impregnation or other preparation is needed before treating sintered parts. The coating offers excellent weldability. Other elements and powdered materials such as paints, sealers, adhesives, lubricants, and their combinations can be incorporated into the coating process, allowing for innovation and development. Heat treating takes place at 360-420 degrees C. Other treatments and coatings are available for metals such as titanium and chromium, and for materials such as ceramics.anticorrosive property requirements imposed products components ever stringent ten years ago corrosion resistance level salt spray tests widely accepted commercially zinc coating 75-hour maximum 150-hour Today 400-hour greater
