| For years, powerful reactive oxidizing species such as hydrogen peroxide have been used in large quantities as an antiseptic. However, hydrogen peroxide kills both invasive bacteria and the body’s healthy cells. New research shows that hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in concentrations far lower than those conventionally used for antisepsis can successfully treat wound lesions from injury and surgery. This new technology opens a range of wound treatment protocols, prepared dressings, and treated devices that naturally help wounds to heal more rapidly.
