| Novel guanidine derivative efficiently catalyses transesterification reactions of sunflower, rapeseed and soybean oil. The reaction is completed within 1 hour of reaction time. The efficiacy of currently used catalysts like NaOH or CH3ONa is highly dependent on water content in alcohol due to ester hydrolysis reaction followed by soap or emulsion formation. The use of this catalyst overcomes these problems. The catalyst is highly soluble in water and can be bound on a solid inert carrier. |
