Glossary
Action List: Tab in the TechPak or TechNeed manager pages that lists items for the Administrator´s attention.
Archived: A TechPak or TechNeed can be archived -- or "parked" -- indefinitely.
Case-Sensitive: Searches on yet2.com DO NOT differentiate between upper- and lowercase letters. Your searches are NOT case-sensitive.
Check In: Upload a TechPak after editing. This releases the TechPak for others to edit if necessary.
Check Out: Obtain a specific TechPak from yet2.com for editing. Checking Out locks the TechPak from changes by others.
Cookie: Data placed on your computer that identifies your session on yet2.com.
Draft: A TechPak or TechNeed that is in the process of being written, but which has not yet been submitted to the in-licensing or out-licensing administrator for the organization.
Field of Use: The industry in which the technology is to be applied.
Get Latest Version: Obtains the most recent version of a TechPak, but does not lock it against editing by others.
Group Administrator: The person in a group account who sets privileges for the members of the group and who is usually chief contact between the organization and yet2.com.
Group Code: A code that identifies you as a member of an organization with a group account.
In-Licensing Administrator: The person responsible for bringing technologies into the organization. This person supervises introductions to TechPaks found on yet2.com, and supervises the responses to TechNeeds that the organization may post on yet2.com.
In-Licensing: Bringing external technologies, know-how, expertise or similar intellectual property into the organization.
Keyword: Words that pertain to the technology or need. Keywords are often added to a listing to ensure that searches can appropriately find it.
Live: A TechPak or TechNeed that is available on the yet2.com Technology Marketplace is "live".
Macro: A set of commands that a computer program (such as Word) can execute in sequence, as though someone were typing at the keyboard.
Novelty: The quality of a technology that makes it new and beneficial.
Out-Licensing Administrator: The person responsible for selling or licensing the organization´s technologies to other organizations. The out-licensing Administrator also supervises the responses to TechNeeds found on yet2.com.
Out-Licensing: Placing the organization´s technology, know-how, expertise, or similar intellectual property with outside organizations in a sale or license.
Precedence: The order in which search statements are executed. yet2.com evaluates search statements from left to right. AND takes precedence over OR. Parentheses can control precedence.
Radio Button: A button within a group of buttons. Only one button in the group can be clicked at any one time.
Reserved Characters: A set of characters that have special meaning in a search, and which you should not use without special care.
Restore: An Administrator can restore -- bring back -- an archived TechPak or TechNeed and actively work on it again.
Retrieve: An administrator can bring back a live TechPak or TechNeed (one that is already on the yet2.com site) for additional work.
Screen Resolution: The number of pixel in the horizontal and vertical directions on your screen. yet2.com is optimized for 1024 x 768.
Stemming: Search algorithm that tries various endings for known words; oil, for example, also checks oiler, oils, oiling, and so forth.
Submit: To send a TechPak or TechNeed to an administrator or to yet2.com.
TechNeed Manager: The pages of yet2.com that allow an Adminstrator to review TechNeeds and submit them to yet2.com.
Technology Marketplace: The yet2.com web site. Other yet2.com software products include i-4C and Tech2Host.
TechPak Manager: The pages of yet2.com that allow an Administrator to review TechPaks and submit them to yet2.com.
Wildcard: Characters that can substitute for other characters in a search query. * stands for any number of characters; ? stands for any single character.
