Overview:

A yet2 client is looking for non-invasive technology to measure lipid metabolism in humans.

They would like to purchase such equipment (including prototypes) from the organization developing such technology.

Restrictions:

  • Required condition:
    • The solution must be able to measure lipid metabolism without blood sampling (methods measuring respiratory quotient are out of the scope.)
      • Although techniques for measuring respiratory quotient is out of scope, exhaled gas analysis technologies that are not based on “the ratio of oxygen consumption to carbon dioxide production” is in scope.
      • Blood sampling for the purpose of calibration before measurement is acceptable.
    • The biomarker used to determine lipid metabolism and the measurement method should be well explained.
    • The equipment can be used for human clinical trials in Japan.

It is desirable that the measurement technology be verified and validated by human testing.  However, even without such testing, if the technology meets the above restrictions, the proposal will be considered for evaluation.

  • Preferred condition:
    • It is desirable that the physiological meaning of the biomarker can be identified.
    • Methods which can indirectly calculate lipid metabolism are also in scope.
      • Example 1: Measurement of blood components/biomarkers which have correlation/inverse correlation to lipid metabolism and can be used to calculate lipid metabolism.
      • Example 2: Measurement of components in sweat, skin, gas or saliva which have correlation/inverse correlation to lipid metabolism and can be used to calculate lipid metabolism.

Possible solution areas:

  • Medical and healthcare equipment
  • Measurement technology using near infrared rays, ultrasonic waves, etc.

Desired Timeframe:

Within 6 months

Field of use and intended applications:

Human clinical trials in the healthcare field, etc.
