Meet the yet2 Team – Alex Murphy

Share

This is one in a series of blog posts where we highlight members of the global yet2 team. We recently spoke with Alex Murphy, associate project leader based out of our Liverpool office.

How many years have you been at yet2?

I started at yet2 in September 2024, so I’m currently one of the newest members of yet2!

What industry or technology interests or excites you the most right now?

With a background in Anatomy and Human Biology, I have a passion for biotechnology, particularly the advancement of technologies aimed at identifying novel biomarkers for cancer and other diseases. The groundbreaking discoveries in this field really excite me!

What type of client engagements do you enjoy the most?

I love helping clients solve their development problems by connecting them with start-ups in their field, it’s so rewarding to see both large and small companies benefiting from open innovation.

Are there any areas/topics in which you consider yourself an expert?

While I wouldn’t call myself an expert, a significant portion of my degree focused on cadaveric dissection, gaining hands-on experience in human anatomy. It was an incredible privilege to learn in such a practical and immersive way, as there’s truly no better method to understand the workings of the human body. These experiences not only furthered my understanding of how the body functions but also gave me valuable insight into how biotech companies leverage this knowledge to develop innovative technologies.

What do you do when you are not working?

Outside of work, I love staying active – hitting the gym and going on long walks are my go-to weekend activities. Recently, I’ve taken up Reformer Pilates, and I’m really enjoying it as a new hobby. I’m also a passionate football fan and have been a season ticket holder for Everton Football Club alongside my mum for the past 14 years. Despite the team’s ups and downs, I never miss a home game—it’s a tradition that means a lot to me!
