Overview:
A yet2 client is seeking energy recovery and integration technologies which can be implemented into their products to reduce scope 3 emissions in water and wastewater treatment.
Background:
Currently, the majority of machinery involved in water and wastewater treatment has large energy requirements; however, during treatment processes various types of energy are generated which could be captured and utilised. These energy inefficiencies highlight clear opportunities to reduce costs and emissions.
Possible Solution Areas:
Our client is open to a broad range of technologies, including those from adjacent industries which could be implemented into their systems. Developed technologies are of higher interest, with a TRL of 6-9 preferred.
Potential solutions of interest include but are not limited to:
- Technologies that can be retrofitted into existing water machinery technologies, e.g., reverse osmosis units, anaerobic digestors
- Technologies for the recovery and utilisation of a variety of energy types, including but not limited to hydroelectric, tidal, kinetic, thermal, pressure, chemical etc.
