Overview:
A yet2 client is seeking organizations with the capability of large scale (pilot/commercial) cultivation and downstream processing/purification of GMO microalgae strains for the production of terpenes.
Background:
There is a major push to produce a wide range of materials, ingredients, and chemicals using more sustainable techniques. These often include novel biotechnology approaches or bioprocessing like precision fermentation, cell culture, and use of novel microbial expression systems including microalgae, fungi, and bacteria.Â
Requirements:
- Organizations must be capable of accommodating GMO microalgae strains
- Required scale of production – pilot/commercial (kg to tons)
- Two phase cultivation is ideal
Of interest also are:
- Organizations who have expertise in commercializing products produced using GMO microalgae
- Organizations who have expertise in developing engineered microalgae strains.
Out-of-scope:
- Early-stage manufacturers (bench-scale quantities) are not currently of interest.
- Cultivation of microalgae utilizing only heterotrophic conditions
Desired outcome of the solution:
Looking for partners to support in scaling-up/manufacturing of GMO microalgae strains and downstream processing for isolation/purification of target molecules.
