Seeking: Technologies for Detecting NORM and Mercury in Industrial Assets

Share

Overview:

A yet2 client is seeking innovations in the non-destructive detection of Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) and/or mercury within their production facility assets.

Background:

Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) accumulates via concentration during industrial processes, such as mining, oil and gas transportation, as well as water treatment. The accumulation of NORM can be damaging to the personnel servicing the assets, as well as the surrounding environment.

In order to decommission these assets, our client is looking for techniques and technologies to be able to non-destructively test both NORM and/or mercury levels.

Possible Solution Areas:

Industries that typically deal with NORM and/or mercury contamination:

  • Oil and Gas
  • Mining
  • Nuclear
  • Chemical
  • Water treatment

Constraints:

Potential solutions must be able to detect NORM or mercury within enclosed assets, such as barrels, pipelines, or crates, without directly accessing the contents.
