Background
This project focuses on e-commerce packaging innovations and evolving best practices with a focus in Asia, specifically China. The consumer segments, including personal care, cosmetics, food and beverage, OTC drugs, across Asian and specifically Chinese markets are of interest. Liquids, aerosols, and solids products’ packaging ideas are all in scope.
Constraints
The innovative e-commerce packaging must fall into one of the following three categories:
- Secondary packaging that adds to or improves the experience of unpacking (i.e., how the product is shipped or packed for shipping)
- Packaging that adds to or improves the experience for consumers (e.g., curated products, flexible packaging, smart packaging that engages with consumer)
- New e-commerce first solutions (e.g., gum of vitamin, concentrated Tide Eco Box which weighs less than current alternatives and lowers shipping cost)
Aspects to consider include:
- Product should reach the consumer as intended, i.e., without any type of damage caused by the shipping
- Brand experience
- Sustainability
- Cost
